Software Review

(image viewing, editing, converting)
The Windows image viewer is really slow and pretty inept. I do not recommend using it for more than very casual use.

I started viewing images with ACDSee in the olden days and decided that there had to be a freeware alternative with similar functionality. I was more than right.

XnView loads images quickly and provides conversion, basic editing/alteration/fixes, and multiple file-type support. I tried several other freeware image viewing solutions just before xnView and was not satisfied with any of them. This could be partially due to my familiarity with ACDSee, which xnView reminds me of.

xnView is not a total organizational software such as picasa and should not be used for one. xnView is for those who keep their images organized themselves. [go to software page]
